32 | LPAs observed an emergency exit door which leads to directly to Oxley St. Per Molly, she plans to utilize that exit door as the pick-up and drop off for the school-age program. LPAs observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, napping mats, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via filter water dispenser pitcher. LPAs observed all hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property.
Licensing staff observed a total of 9 sinks, 7 toilets, and 4 urinals available for preschool children’s use. The proposed school- age program will have access to a Girls and Boys restrooms located down the hall from classroom B10 which will afford privacy for children. Licensing staff observed a total of 4 sinks, 3 toilets, and 2 urinals available for school-age children. These are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 20 school-age children. There is a separate staff restroom equipped with a toilet and a sink. The isolation area for children who are ill will be the staff restroom located near the Director’s Office.
Facility will provide AM/ PM snacks. Parents will provide their child’s lunch. The kitchen area is located next to the preschool classroom 10 which currently includes refrigerator, sink, microwave, and food prep counter. The kitchen area and food storage areas were observed free of rodents and/or vermin. Food was observed to be properly stored separate from cleaning materials. Hazardous items in kitchen are inaccessible to children via locked cabinet.
The facility currently has four playground areas: Bike Yard, The Thing Yard, Sand Yard, and the Courtyard. Fencing was observed made of wrought iron which is at least four feet high. The Thing Yard, Sand Yard, and the Courtyard which will remain designated as preschool outdoor space measured for a total capacity of 9,825.74, which is sufficient for the existing preschool capacity. The Applicant plans to request a waiver to share usage of the designated preschool Bike yard using a staggered play schedule. Per Applicant Representative, she will be requesting a waiver to share use of the Bike Yard with the proposed school-age program due to the accessibility and age-appropriate play equipment. The total square footage for Bike Yard outdoor activity space is 7,290 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. Shade is provided via shape sails. |
