Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Shushanik Safaryan and Priscilla Ochoa conducted unannounced case management - licensee initiated inspection to the above facility on 10/21/24. The licensee is currently licensed for a small family childcare and requesting capacity increase . Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8 AM until 5:30 PM.
LPAs arrived at the facility at 09:00 am and met with Licensee, Melissa Rivera -Carreras ,who guided analysts on a tour of the facility. During the inspection, LPAs toured all areas identified on the facility sketch. This is a two story home consists of 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen and located in La Brea Park apartment complex.
Areas that are accessible to children are as follows: Living room ,dining room, bathroom on the first floor in the hallway, back porch.
Areas off limits based on facility sketch submitted include entire second floor which consists of 3 bedrooms , 2 bathrooms and kitchen .
Rooms that are off-limits need to be made inaccessible during operating hours. LPAs observed child safety gate to prevent children`s access to the second floor .

Children will use the back porch and common green area of apartment complex for outdoor play area.Per licensee children will be under supervision all the time .

All areas identified on the facility sketch that are accessible for children to use were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness.
The required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher was serviced on 04/06/2024. Carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are operable.

Per licensee, there is a weapon in the house which kept in the safe and stored in off limit area . Per licensee, there are no poisons or bodies of water on the premises. Per licensee, only one dog on the premises and will be kept away from children in off limit areas during the day care hours .

The licensee was observed to be operating within the licensed capacity and is not exceeding the required limitations during this inspection. During this inspection one chid was present in the home and Licensees fiancee. Per Licensee 3 children enrolled , 2 of which are infants. LPAs observed cribs in the dinning area. Per Licensee , she provides sheets for napping and washes if needed.

Adult present have obtained a criminal record clearance on Licensing Information System (LIS). Per licensee, currently she has one assistant. LPAs reviewed assistant file and observed all the required immunization, first aid and CPR with an expiration 09/2026.

LPA advised the licensee to access forms, regulations, and quarterly updates online at: www.ccld.ca.gov.

There are no deficiencies being cited today. The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.

Per Licensee, she will operate within license capacity, fire clearance terms and limitations associated with a large license. The licensee will be provided an updated copy of her license after supervisor`s review and approval .
