LPA was greeted by Licensee, Leora Riley who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Per licensee there are 7 children enrolled, and LPA observed 2 preschool aged children in care. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Family members residing in the home are 1 adult who obtain criminal record clearance. The home consists of 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, kitchen, laundry room, front yard, and backyard (fenced). There is a fireplace in the living room which has been blocked off to prevent access to children.
Areas that are accessible to children are 2 bedrooms, bathroom, living room, laundry room, kitchen and backyard.
Off-limit area to children in care is the Master bedroom.
At 1:00 pm licensee guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Per licensee, parents enter through side gate through the driveway, leading parents to the back yard. LPA entered the home through the front door and observed the living / dining room area. In the living / dining room area LPA observed children’s art project and materials, children’s books, 2 highchairs for children in care and dining table. LPA did observe a cold unplugged iron on the floor near the dining area. Per licensee, they used the iron a while ago and just forgot to put it away. Licensee removed the iron from the floor and place it in an inaccessible area. LPA reminded licensee, this material can be harmful to children while in care. The facility will receive a technical violation as the iron was cold, unplugged and children were not in this area.
