This inspection was conducted in Spanish.

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Martinez Garza conducted a case management - licensee initiated inspection at the above facility on 02/11/25 at 11:25 a.m. The home is currently licensed for 6 children and a request for a capacity of 14 children was received. All areas identified in the facility sketch were toured. There were 02 children present during this inspection. Licensee's assistant was also present. Operation hours are Monday - Friday from 06:00am – 07:30pm.

This is a one-story home which consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, front yard (fenced), side yard (fenced), back yard/house (fenced). Per licensee, family members residing in the home are 3 adults and 2 minors.

• Day care areas: living room, dining room, 1 bathroom, and front yard.

• Off limit areas: 2 bedrooms, kitchen, side yard, and back yard/house.

LPA observed (1) crib in the dining room that meets Title 22 Regulations. Older children nap on cots. Per licensee, food is provided to all children in care. The home maintains telephone service via a cell phone and remains in the facility during operation hours. LPA observed ventilation and heating.

Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which could pose a danger to children were observed to be inaccessible to children. Per licensee, there are no poisons in the home and understands that storage areas for poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock. At 11:32 a.m., smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and are operable. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and was purchased on 12/16/24, per the attached receipt and the 3A40BC was purchased on 12/16/24.

The licensee has a first aid kit readily available. Per licensee, there are no firearms or weapons stored in the home. LPA observed the required posted documentation in the living room. LPA reviewed facility records for LIC 9040- Facility Roster and Disaster drill log. The last disaster drill documented was 09/19/24.

Currently children use the front yard for outdoor play with shade provided by the tree and age-appropriate play equipment for children in care. According to the licensee, she has a tarp that will be installed and placed in the yard to provide more shade when needed. LPA did not observe any objects that could be hazardous to children in care. Licensee understand that children should be supervised at all times. LPA did not observe any pools, spas, hot tubs, fishponds, or similar bodies of water during the inspection.

LPA reviewed licensee’s Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification, expires 06/15/26 and current Mandated Reporter Training expires 05/26/26. Licensee's assistant's Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification, expires 11/02/26 and current Mandated Reporter Training expires 05/27/26.

The facility has requested an increase of capacity from 6 to 12 on 01/28/25. Fire clearance was granted on 02/06/25. The licensee has not obtained a signed Property Owner/Landlord Consent form (LIC 9149). Without this consent, the licensee understands that, once licensed, they can operate with a maximum capacity of 12 children. If property owner/landlord consent is obtained in the future, the licensee is advised that a new Application for a Family Child Care Home License (LIC 279) must be submitted with a change of capacity fee of $25, to increase the capacity and provide care to 14 children. The increase is contingent upon a Licensing Program Manager review and approval.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
