32 | LPA inspected the facility for safety, comfort, cleanliness, ventilation and working cell phone. For ventilation, LPA observed ceiling fans/AC units and central air. At 1:45 p.m., Licensee began the tour starting with outdoor entrance of the facility that has ringdoor camera which parents use to ring the licensee. Next, LPA observed the back living room (main day care) and there is a hallway that has a child safety gate at the entrance of the hallway making the front living room inaccessible. There is a closed door that leads to the kitchen, making it inaccessible to children. LPA observed all bedroom doors down the hallway with child safety knobs and cabinets with child safety latches, making them inaccessible. LPA observed the back living room (main care area) with age-appropriate furniture, manipulatives, books, soft plush toys, puzzles, and art/music materials that were well maintained (free of loose, sharp, and pointed parts). Licensee states that she does not have current children that nap. LPA observed napping equipment in the form of cots and licensee states she washes the linen every week.
Next, LPA entered the hallway’s bathroom and observed a working toilet, working sink with hand soap. LPA reminded licensee and personal items (ex; shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash, or items that fall into that category) must be made inaccessible to children.
LPA was guided to the kitchen area through a door in the back living room and observed the kitchen’s door knob to have a child safety knob making it inaccessible to children. LPA observed cleaning compound items, stored underneath the kitchen sink and the knives and sharp objects stored in an area inaccessible for children. Licensee stated that she provides breakfast, a.m./pm. snack, and lunch for children in care and sometimes parents provide the meals and snacks. LPA informed licensee any food brought from the children's homes, the container shall be labeled with the child's name and properly stored or refrigerated. Licensee stated that there are no children with severe food allergies nor on medication and understands that if she has children with medication, they are properly stored in a kitchen cabinet inaccessible to children.
Currently, children are using the backyard for outdoor play time. The backyard’s entrance is through the back living room doors. LPA observed toys, play structure, playhouse, arts/crafts, sand table, and areas with high climbing equipment are cushioned with material that may absorb a fall. All play equipment is age-appropriate and in safe condition (free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts). Per licensee backyard maintenance is done weekly and there is also adequate shading where children eat outside, if weather allows. LPA also observed a trampoline and reminded licensee to follow the manufacture’s manual for use. LPA then observed the additional building in the backyard and licensee states that it not permitted to be used for children in care and is used as storage, which is locked during daycare hours.
