32 | According to the Applicant, parents will drop off and pick up their children by entering through the driveway and accessing the main gate, which leads to the gated play area. Areas which will be used by children include the living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and gated play area (located in front of the dwelling). Electrical outlets have safety covers installed throughout the home. The home does not have a fireplace. The washer/dryer are located outside, in the side yard. Per the Applicant, areas off limits to children include the closet (located inside the bedroom), the front yard, two side yards, separate dwelling unit located in the front of the property ( adjacent to the gated play area), and back yard.
All areas identified on the facility sketch as accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. The living room will be used for activities. The living room and bedroom will also be used for napping. Per Applicant, isolation area for ill children will also be in the bedroom. LPA observed six (6) cots inside the currently licensed facility at the time of the visit. These cots will be transferred to 312 Griswold St, Unit A upon approval of the new license. Applicant will purchase additional cots, as needed.
The home is neat and clean. LPA observed a fully charged fire extinguisher which is at least a 2A:10BC (purchase date of 11/25/25). The home is equipped with a smoke/carbon monoxide detector. The smoke/carbon monoxide detector was tested at the time of visit and observed to be operational. There is a working cell phone maintained in the home which will be the main contact number while children are in care. Per Applicant, meals will be provided to children in care (breakfast, lunch, and PM snack). Food preparation areas were toured for safety, cleanliness and proper equipment. The home is equipped with surveillance cameras (inside and outside). The home is equipped with a first-aid kit equipped with, cleansing pads healing ointment, bandages, gauze, and a digital thermometer. The home is equipped with a central air conditioning and heating system. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are made inaccessible. The Applicant states that there are no poisons in the home and understands that poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock. LPA observed the gated play area has adequate perimeter fencing through-out the yard. LPA advised Applicant that outdoor supervision is required at all times. LPA observed age appropriate toys free of loose and sharp parts available for the children in the gated play area and all trees, shrubs, and plants are maintained. Per Applicant, there are no weapons, firearms in the home and there are no bodies of water around the premises. None were observed by the LPA.
