25 | Licensing Program Analyst's (LPA's) Ashley Calderon and Susann Sanchez conducted an announced case management visit for the purpose of licensee would like to be put on Active status. Licensee stated not having any children in care since becoming licensed and was on Inactive Status. The home is a Large Family Care Home, with the capacity of 14. Currently there are 0 children enrolled. Licensee only wants to care for children ages 6 years old to 12 years old. Per Licensee hours of operation are Monday to Friday (expects Tuesdays) 6AM to 8AM and 2PM to 6PM. On Tuesdays, hours will be 6AM to 8PM and 12PM to 6PM. Licensee states she will change hours depending on local school district hours (summer vacation).
During today's visit LPA's alongside with licensee Deseree Chase, toured the inside and outside of the child care home including "off limit" areas. LPA toured "off limit" area because facility was licensed during the pandemic and was previously toured virtually. Licensee would like to start operating April 1,2024.
This is a two-story home that consists of 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, office, theater room, foyer, den, gym, child care room, kitchen, dining room, laundry room, back yard (fenced) and garage. Children will use the child care room, living room, dining room, restroom next to the child care room, den, foyer, and backyard (fenced). "Off limit" areas include the following: all of the second floor, which includes 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, office and theater room. LPA's observed a retractable safety gate at the bottom of the stairs. The gym, garage, and laundry room are located in the first floor are also off limits. LPA's observe a lock on the gym door. LPA's observed stairs that lead to the balcony in the backyard that was gated off. LPA's observed a shed in the backyard that remains locked.
Areas that will be used by children were inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service (cellphone), ventilation and heating (central). Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, sharp objects and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children are inaccessible in areas designated for children. The applicant states that there poisons in the home and locked. |
