Staff interviews indicated that water is never denied to children. Children bring a sippy cup and the facility provides water to the children. Staff stated that they offer children water or give them a choice of either milk or water by showing the children their cups and having them point to what they prefer. Staff interviews revealed that an incident occurred in which a child was given their sippy cup, they drank from it and walked away with it and began shaking it, spilling water on the floor. It was at this time that Staff 1 took the cup from the child and stated there was no more water. Per Staff 1, they initially provided water to the child to drink and only removed it when the child began to spill the water. Per parent interviews, there were no concerns about the facility providing water to children.
Interviews conducted revealed that at the beginning of the summer the staff in the infant room had a difficult time finding the controls to the temperature, but the controls were found soon after. Staff stated that they are able to turn the a/c unit on and off when needed. LPA conducted a visit on 10/20/22 and during the visit, the temperature in the classrooms was comfortable. Interviews with staff also revealed that during warm temperatures, children wear light clothing. Parent interviews did not corroborate the allegation.
LPA confirmed with staff that sometime in August or September the hallway in the facility was painted. Staff interviewed also confirmed that parents were notified of the painting. Staff interviews confirmed that there was no painting taking place during hours of operation and that the painting took place after hours. Per staff interviews the hallway was lined with plastic to block off access to the painted areas. Per Director, the equipment was left behind, but it was inaccessible to children, and she ensured that there was a safe walking area for parents and children to walk through.
Based on the investigation, the above allegations are unsubstantiated. Although the allegations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violations did or did not occur, therefore the allegations are unsubstantiated. Exit interview was conducted with Director Linda Johnson. Appeal rights were provided.notice of site visit was provided and must be posted for 30 days. |
