25 | On 8/1/24, at 11:00AM. Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), T. Tran and A. Carter conducted an unannounced annual required visit at the CII Western Head Start. Upon arrival, LPAs met with the Site Supervisor, Lela Jones. LPAs announced the purpose of today’s visit. About 11:10AM, we toured the facility inside and outside. LPAs observed proper care and supervision. All center staff that were present during today’s inspection had fingerprint cleared and associated to the designated license number.
This is an Infant program with Preschool/Toddler option attached (197418048). Infant's class located next to the staff's office. Facility hours of operation are 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday. There is no extended care offered. LPAs observed all posting requirements for operation on the posting board LIC 203A-License, LIC 610 A-Emergency Disaster Plan, LIC 9148-Earthquake Preparedness Check List, PUB 394-Notification of parent’s rights poster, LIC 613A- Personal Rights, PUB 269- Child Car Seat Law, Menus, Activity Schedule, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Shaken Baby Syndrome Poster, and safe sleep poster. Children and staff records were reviewed for completeness. LPAs observed current CPR and First Aid Certification for all center staff.
Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Storage for children's belongings, isolation area was inspected located at staff's office. Classroom observed with a changing area within the arm reach of the sink. Children napping area and cribs were observed to be safe and sanitation. Trash can with tight lids, First Aid supplies, smoke detectors; carbon monoxide/fire extinguishers were observed. A review of medication policy, including administering, labeling, storage, and records was made. Sign in and out sheet procedures were reviewed. Physical sleeping infants checklist for every 15 minutes were documented daily. All bottles, food items and snacks were observed to be efficient with label and dated. Separated outdoor play areas for each components were observed. The play yards were well fenced. Equipment was inspected for safety. LPAs observed shade and drinking water was available for children in care. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water. The food preparation area was toured for safety, cleanliness, and proper equipment. Facility is reminded that smoking is prohibited on the premises. |
