Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) R. Derraco conducted an unannounced required one-year inspection to the above facility on 02/03/23. LPA arrived at the facility at 12:00 PM and met with Licensee, Karla Zelaya-Garcia, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Also present during this inspection was an assistant S2. Per Licensee, there are 8 children that are currently enrolled. There were 2 children present upon arrival
This is a one-story home which consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen/dining room, living room, a detached garage, front yard and backyard (fenced). The off-limit areas include 1 bedroom, living room, detached garage, and front yard.
Part of the main care area is located in the bedroom. LPA observed age appropriate toys, child sized table, child sized chairs, art supplies, a wooden baby crib, sleeping mats, children’s art supplies and reading material. The kitchen was observed to have locks on all the cabinets. No sharp or pointy objects were observed to be accessible in the kitchen. Per licensee, detergents and cleaning compounds are kept locked beneath the kitchen sink. Licensee also states that she provides food for the children in care and understands that food brought from home must be labeled with each child’s name and properly stored. Baby gates were observed at the hallway entrance to the living room and to the dining area making it inaccessible to children in care. The bathroom was observed with an operable sink, toilet and faucet. Locks were observed on the cabinets beneath the bathroom sink. The outdoor play area was observed with adequate shade and perimeter fencing. A white plastic gate was observed on the sides of the home making the area inaccessible. LPA observed the detached garage and a storage shed to be locked. Children’s outdoor play equipment, additional age-appropriate toys, children’s tables and chairs, and additional art supplies were observed in the outdoor play area.
