Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Randy Derraco conducted an announced pre-licensing inspection to the above mentioned address on 06/21/22 at 12:40 PM. LPA met with applicant, Maria Alba, who guided LPA on a tour of the home. Per applicant, children present live in the home were verified via LIC 279B. Individuals residing in the home have been noted and discussed. The applicant is requesting a large capacity family childcare home license. Per applicant, operation hours will be Monday thru Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Applicant states that they will care for children aged 2 months to 10 years old.

All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected, including but not limited to, off limit areas. This is a one story additional dwelling unit that consists of one bedrooms, one bathrooms, living room / kitchen / laundry area, front yard and backyard (fenced).

Main care areas include living room/kitchen/laundry area, bedroom, bathroom, front play area and back yard play area. Parents will enter the facility through side gate located on the driveway. .



Off limit areas include address 5835 Gardenia Ave. LPA observed that both 5835 and 5835A share a wall however there is no access to the home through 5835A Gardenia Ave. A doorway was observed in the front yard play area and licensee states that the doorway is never opened. Per licensee, she plans to rent out the home located on 5835 Gardenia Ave.

Outdoor play area is located in the back yard. LPA observed that the yard is fenced and free of hazards. Outdoor play equipment was observed in the outdoor play area. Licensee states she plans to use a portable pop up tent to provide shade for the outdoor play area.

Areas that will be used by children were inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness. LPA observed locks on the kitchen cabinets. Per applicant, cleaning supplies and sharp objects such as knives are kept locked above

the refrigerator. A first aid kit was observed to be mounted on the wall next to the bathroom. LPA observed the bathroom designated for children in care to be clean with an operable sink and toilet. LPA observed a 2A10-BC fire extinguisher to have service tag dated 03/10/22. A carbon monoxide/smoke detector was observed to be operable. LPA observed an operable land line for telephone service and a wall mounted air conditioning / heating unit. Laundry appliances were also observed to be stacked and locked in the cabinet. The applicant was advised that any poisons must be locked, not just inaccessible. There are age appropriate toys and material available for children. Parent board is visible in the main care area with required postings. Children will nap on cots in the living room or bedroom. Per applicant there are no pets on the premises. LPA observed a firearm to have a trigger lock. Per applicant, no ammunition is kept for the firearm. The applicant states that they will provide food for children in care. Any food brought from the children’s homes shall be labeled with child’s name and properly stored or refrigerated

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

The applicant has completed the required Health and Safety Training, Nutrition, and Lead Training, Mandated Reporter Training and Pediatric First Aid and CPR. Applicant has proof of required immunization's. Assistants have required training and immunization.

LPA advised the applicant how to access forms, regulations and quarterly updates on the Child Care Licensing website at: www.cdss.ca.gov. LPA provided and discussed PIN 20-24-CCP - Recently Approved Safe Sleep Regulations in Effect, Licensee's, Children's and Assistant's Files checklist, and infant sleep chart.

Applicant is requesting a large family child care license. Fire clearance was approved on 05/24/22

A large family childcare license may be granted upon Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Approval. Once licensed, the applicant is required to comply with the terms and limitations stated on the license.



Prior to approval for a large family child care license, applicant will need to provide proof of corrections for the following items:

-Side area of backyard play area needs to be inaccessible for children in care.
