25 | On May 18, 2022 at 11:10 AM., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elka Chavez conducted a pre-licensing inspection. LPA met with applicant, Natalie Sells, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. During this inspection individuals who reside in the home were discussed and noted. The applicant is requesting a small family child care home license. Per applicant, operating hours will be from 7:30AM to 5:30PM from Monday through Friday. Applicant states that she will care for children ages 6 months to 5 years of age.
All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected. This is single story home which consist of 3 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, den, family room, kitchen, dining area, detached garage, front yard and back yard (fenced). Per applicant, the children will use the den, dining area, family room, restroom located next to bedroom #3 and back yard (fenced). Based on the Facility Sketch submitted, areas off limits to children and parents are: 3 bedrooms, master bathroom, kitchen and detached garage. The applicant understand that licensing staff may have access to off-limit areas during inspection visit if necessary.
Areas that will be used by children were inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service (cellular phone), and ventilation. LPA observed ventilation and heating are through portable units. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, sharp objects and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children were observed to be inaccessible. LPA observed them to be kept in a locked cabinet in the laundry room. LPA observe child safety gate in the kitchen and bedroom hallway making the areas inaccessible to children in care. The applicant was advised that any poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock. Per applicant there are no pets. LPA did not observe any bodies of water in the premises.
Applicant states there are firearms and weapons in the premises which are stored in a locked gun safe located in the detached garage. LPA observed the detached garage door is kept locked and the key is inaccessible to children in care. Applicant stated that she will be purchasing a gun safe to store one of the |
