25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an unannounced Required 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Licensee Chelsea Jardim who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Upon arrival LPA observed the Licensee and two cleared assistants caring for eleven (11) children (8 preschool, 1 school age and 1 infant (2 non-program). There are 13 children enrolled attending the facility at different times. All residents associated with the facility were noted.
At approximately 1:20pm all areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected. This is a single one story home comprised of three (3) bedrooms, two bathrooms, dining area, living room, sun room/daycare room, kitchen, front and back yard and detached garage. The Licensee uses the living room (main daycare area), sun/room, dining area, one bathroom, one bedroom and back yard for care. The areas off limits to children are: two bedrooms, and one bathroom, and garage. LPA informed Licensee to contact the department if she wants to use other areas of the home and always ensure hazards are inaccessible.
All areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. Between 1:15pm and 1:40pm LPA observed age appropriate toys and equipment inside the home and in the backyard. LPA advised Licensee to ensure careful supervision when children play in areas that provide cover (like backyard foliage). The backyard is surrounded by fencing approximately 5 feet high. There is a working phone maintained in the home. There are no pets in the home. LPA advised Licensee to provide extra care and supervision if she decides to have pets as they can be unpredictable. LPA observed detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children to be inaccessible (in inaccessible areas or out of children's reach). LPA informed Licensee that poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock.
LPA discussed regulations regarding firearms. Per Licensee there are no bodies of water and LPA did not observe any on the premises. The License, Parents Rights Poster, and Earthquake Preparedness was posted. The children's roster and Disaster drill is current (last date of drill June 2023. Continued: |
