25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Randy Derraco conducted an announced pre-licensing inspection to the above mentioned address on 01/26/24 at 9:30 AM. LPA met with licensee, Vanessa Chaides, who guided LPA on a tour of the home. LPA did not observe any additional adults or children in care. Individuals residing in the home have been noted and discussed. The licensee is requesting a location change for her large family childcare home license. Per licensee, operation hours will be Monday through Friday from 1:00AM to 11:00PM. Licensee states that they will care for children 6 months to 10 years old.
All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected, including but not limited to, off limit areas. This is a single story home that consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, den, dining room, kitchen, front yard and back yard (fenced). The off limit areas include the bedroom 1 and the front yard. The licensee understands that licensing staff may have access to off-limit areas during inspection visit if necessary.
The main care area is located in the den. LPA observed age appropriate toys, educational posters, child sized table, child sized chairs, carpet, and ceiling fan. Retractable mesh gates were observed at both entrances to the main care area. Per licensee, children will enter the home through the front door. The living room was observed with a couch, wall mounted television and a dining table. Licensee states that children showing signs of illness will be separated from the rest of the group and into the living room while they await parent pick up. The dining area was observed with an infant feeding table for 3 and another child sized table with chairs. The kitchen was observed to have child locks on the cabinet beneath the sink. Cleaning supplies were observed to be kept in a basket above a kitchen cabinet. Knives and other sharp or pointy objects were observed to be kept in a zip up bag above the refrigerator. Per licensee, she will provide food for children in care. Licensee understands that any food brought from the children’s homes shall be labeled with child’s name and properly stored or refrigerated. Bedroom 2 was observed with 2 twin sized beds and bedroom furniture. The bathroom was observed to be sanitary with an operable sink, faucet and toilet. A child lock was observed beneath the bathroom sink making the contents inaccessible to children in care.
