32 | Per applicant, outdoor play to be conducted in the back yard. During inspection, LPA observed back yard to be fenced. During inspection, LPA observed the following items accessible to children in care in the backyard: a trampoline, two piles of cement sidewalk tiles, a wheelbarrow located behind locked storage shed, a few trash and recycle bins, and a generator. LPA discussed with applicant regarding on and off-limit areas of backyard. LPA advised applicant that items pose a hazard or safety risk to children in care should be made off-limits. LPA discussed with applicant Title 22 regulations regarding use of trampolines. During inspection, LPA observed a cactus plant located in the back yard with fencing barrier around it. During inspection, LPA observed a dog house located in the back yard. Per applicant, she has three dogs. During inspection, LPA observed several potholes in the grass area of the backyard. Per applicant, dogs dig holes in the grass. LPA discussed with applicant regarding concern of tripping hazard that potholes cause. LPA advised applicant that best practice is to have all pets located in off-limit areas inaccessible to children in care during operating hours. Per applicant, a fence to be placed on the left side of outdoor back yard to separate on-limits right side of backyard from off-limits left side of backyard. Per applicant, trampoline, dogs, generator, trash bins and off-limits storage shed to be located on off-limits left side of back yard. LPA advised applicant that supervision to be maintained at all times during outdoor play. LPA did not observe bodies of water on the facility.
Per applicant file review, a review of staff records indicates that applicant and one staff have the following updated documents: updated pediatric CPR/First Aid certificates with expiration date of 4/2026, updated mandated reporter certificate for licensee with expiration date of 2/2026, updated mandated reporter certificate for staff with expiration date of 3/2026, a completed health and safety orientation by licensee with lead and nutrition component dated 4/14/2024 and updated immunization records on file for measles, pertussis, influenza and TB clearance for licensee, staff and all adult residents in the home. LPA reviewed with applicant the LIC 311D, Forms/Records to Keep In Your Family Child Care Homes, children’s forms/records, facility forms/records, and information to be posted. Entrance Checklist was provided to the applicant.
The Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over living in the home, persons who provide care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
