25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Mayra Cota, conducted an unannounced annual visit today. Lillie Mae Miles, Direct Support Professional, granted entry to the home and the reason for the visit was explained. Jana N. West, Administrator, arrived thereafter and continued to assist with the visit.
The home is licensed to serve (6) developmentally disabled adults ages 18 through 59 years of age; ambulatory only. The home is operating within the scope of its license. There are currently (5) clients living in the facility. The home is in a residential area of Pasadena. Clients in care receive services through the Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center.
The two-story home consists of (4) client bedrooms, (2) bathrooms, staff room, living room, dining room, kitchen, front covered porch patio, back yard, laundry room, office, and storage room. The home has a basement which is off limits to staff and clients and entry way and staircase was observed locked during today’s visit.
During today’s visit, LPA observed the following:
The facility is clean inside and out. Passageways, walkways and exits are free of debris and obstructions. Furniture in the home is in good repair and there is sufficient seating in the living room and dining room for clients in care. The kitchen is clean, and appliances are operational. The home has sufficient (7) day non-perishable and (2) day perishable supply of food which is kept properly stored and within expiration limits. Sharps/knives and cleaning supplies are kept locked in a kitchen drawer and are inaccessible to clients in care. The bedrooms have the required furnishing and bedding. Linen is clean and in good repair. The home keeps extra bedding and towels in the hallway closet. The bathrooms are also kept clean and sanitary. The water was tested in both bathrooms and measured at 119.1 and 118.7 degrees F. in bathroom #1 and #2, which is within compliance range. The laundry room is clean, and the appliances are operable. The facility’s fire extinguishers is are kept charged and in operable condition.
