32 | Room measurements were taken and reviewed with ECE Specialist, Brenda Naranjo. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 1245 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 24 preschool. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings in the classroom. Brenda Naranjo understands that children's equipment needs to match the licensed capacity. Toys and equipment appear to be age appropriate. There is a total of 2 toilets and 2 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate the requested capacity of 24 preschool children. One of the sinks is outside the bathroom around the corner and is not used for food preparation.
Licensee is providing the following to provide accessible drinking water to children in care: For inside drinking water, licensee is providing disposable cup dispenser with disposable cups. For the outside drinking water, licensee is providing an igloo with disposable cup dispenser with disposable cups.
This facility is participating in the inclusion program. Per licensee, Madera Unified School District, the special education program will be mainstream up to 9 special education program children, ages 3 to 5 years old, during outside play yard. The nine special education program children will be supervised by their teacher and two special education paraprofessionals when in the outside play yard. A schedule was provided and will be followed.
The approximate outside square footage for the preschool area is more than adequate to accommodate requested capacity of 24 Preschool Children. Licensee requested an outside play waiver due to sharing the kindergarten class. A schedule was provided and will be followed.
LPA observed age appropriate toys, a bike path, slide, and swings. Applicant is using wood chip to cushion fall zones. There is shade available where children can rest and get water. Licensee has a permanent shade structure that is built into the play structure. Mature trees provide additional shade. The climbing structure has an age appropriate sticker for age 2 to 5-year-old. ECE Specialist informed LPA’s that the play structure will be replaced in September of 2022. LPAs instructed ECE Specialist to provide manufacturers specifications of the new structure to Licensing Program Manager, Juvenal Moctezuma prior to installation. LPA reminded Brenda Naranjo, ECE Specialist to provide adequate supervision at all times. There are no locked storage buildings on the play yard.
A fire clearance of 24 preschool children was approved and granted by the City of Madera Fire Department on July 7, 2022.
This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services – IMS. For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Brenda Naranjo was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
