25 | On 3/22/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Stephanie Vega-Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Case Management that Licensee Initiated. LPA rang doorbell and met with Licensee, Maria Brito Gutierrez. LPA explained the reason for the inspection, which was initiated by Licensee. Licensee had contacted the department on March 20, 2024 stating that she would like to use an off-limits areas for children in care, Living Room 1, Dinning Area, and Kitchen. Licensee provided the department with an updated LIC999A Facility Sketch Floor Plan.
On today's date LPA inspected the home, inside and out. LPA inspected Living Room 1, Living Room 2, Dinning area, and Kitchen. LPA observed various age appropriate toys and did not observe any hazards to children in care. LPA observed in Living Room 2 a wood stove. Licensee stated that wood stove is not used while children are in care. LPA observed that wood stove had a glass cover. LPA observed an electric fireplace in Living Room 1. Licensee stated that fireplace is used while children are in care when the home needs heating. LPA observed that fireplace did have a wire mesh that covered fireplace, yet the mesh did not lock, and children still had access to fireplace. Licensee stated that they will provide proof to the department that fireplace will have a cover. On today’s date the electric fireplace was not on, and it was blocked off by a bookshelf.
On today’s date Licensee requested for LPA to inspect the backyard. LPA inspected the backyard and observed the following: LPA observed that the backyard has a side yard that is barricaded by a flimsy plastic cover. LPA observed on the side yard there were various gardening tools, large wood pieces, and clutter. LPA observed that children would have access to the area by lifting the flimsy plastic cover that is being used as a fence. LPA observed an infant swing that was broken, a slide that had various cracks, a garden hose on grassy area, and that the grass had sunken areas throughout the yard. LPA observed that sunken areas and garden hose can be a potential tripping hazard to children in care.
