25 | On 04/21/2023 Licensing Program Analysts (LPAS), Denisia Jimenez and Yesenia Fierro conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and was met by Licensee, Martha Madrigal. Also present were Staff #1 (S1) and Staff #2 (S2). Licensee is Spanish Speaking. Days and hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 4:00 AM–6:00 PM. The home has working telephone service and LPAS confirmed the phone number is (408) 722-2282.
LPA toured the home inside and outside and a census was taken. there are seven-day care children present. This is a two-story home; the second story of the home is inaccessible to children as there is a child safety gate at the base of the staircase. Current facility sketch reviewed, and Licensee confirmed that day care room, kitchen, two dining rooms, downstairs restroom, living room, and the backyard are accessible to children. All other rooms are off-limits and made inaccessible by use of doorknob spinners. The outdoor play area in the backyard is fenced and there are no hazards to children present. There are no pets in the home. Licensee understands the liability of pets around day care children and accepts responsibilities of any action taken by pets. There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises. Licensee stated there are no firearms or ammunition on the premises. No poisons were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible by a safety latch.
The fireplace located in the living room and is made inaccessible by a full-size sofa and will not be in use during daycare hours. There is a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. Safe toys and play equipment are observed and are in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts.
Licensee has two infants enrolled in the facility. There is one play yard for each infant in care, the play yard is kept free from all loose articles and objects while infants are sleeping, and there are no objects hanging above or attached to the play yard. Infants are not swaddled while in care. Licensee provided proof of physically checking on infants every fifteen minutes. LPAs advised licensee that she is required to document any sign of distress, which includes but is not limited to flushed skin color, increase in body temperature, restlessness, and labored breathing on a sleeping log.
