25 | On September 19, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Garcia made an announced case management visit, initiated by the director to make preliminary measurements of the patio and the front area of the facility to possibly increase their capacity to additional 20 children. Per director, the facility plans to tear down their office area/children's cubby area to make it into a classroom. The facility also plans for the patio area to possibly be added as an indoor classroom with the flexibility of it turning it back into a patio area. LPA advised director to schedule a visit with the fire inspector for approval of their plans of the patio area. The facility plans to increase capacity to 60 total children.
During the inspection, the facility was inspected for health and safety hazards. LPA measured the indoor space for the front area as 444.69 square feet, which is sufficient for up to a total of 12 children. The patio area was measure to a total of 390.22 square feet which is sufficient for a total of 11 children. Both areas were also measured for encumbered spaces totaling 48.24 square feet in the front area and 17.01 square feet in the patio area. LPA observed that the classrooms has fire alarms, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and a fully charged fire extinguishers. Per director, they will have age appropriate toys, furniture, and equipment available for children, once the construction is complete. LPA observed that there are 4 sinks and 4 total toilets inside the classrooms. Additional bathroom with 1 toilet and 1 sink can be utilized as well. The outdoor space will remain the same. The yard consist of sand box area, multiple toys to ride on with play structures for outdoor activity.
As of today's visit, the facility will request building permits from the city/county to initiate construction and send an application to the department for an increase capacity with the approval of the fire inspection. Per Director, they plan to start the construction in summer 2025.
No deficiencies are cited today under the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12.
