25 | On January 30, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Garcia made a case management inspection to decrease capacity of the preschool program license number 213001939 in conjunction with an increase capacity of school-aged program, license number 210111538 and met with Site Manager, Alida Leon. This is a combination center with a preschool program, school-age program and infant program, operating at the same address. The Department received an application from the Licensee requesting a decrease in capacity from 80 to 60 children due to removing one of the classrooms currently licensed for the preschool program and using it for the School-age program. The classroom that is removed is room #5. There were 15 teachers supervising 44 preschool children during the visit.
During the inspection, the facility was inspected for health and safety hazards. Specifically, room #5 was measured to ensure the square footage of the classroom was sufficient for the decrease from 80 to 60 requested capacity. The square footage of room #5 is 784.75 sq ft subtracting 64 encumbered space from the bathroom, which means the total available usable space is 720.75. With the Licensing requirement of 35 sq ft indoor activity space per child, room #5 can accommodate approximately 20 children. The classroom has a centralized fire alarm, a smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and a fully charged fire extinguisher. There are age appropriate toys, furniture, and equipment available for children. There is a storage space for children's personal belongings. The preschool program has a total of 6 toilets and 9 sinks total in rooms 3,4, and 8, allowing for 60 children. There are no changes in the outdoor space.
The new Preschool classrooms with the removal of classroom #5 are now classrooms #3, #4,and #8.
LPA will approve decrease of capacity to 60 children once the clearance from the fire inspector is received.
No deficiencies are cited today under the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12.
Notice of Site Visit is provided and must remain posted for 30 days.
