25 | On 4/23/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Hanson Leong conducted an unannounced case management visit to the Child Care Center (CCC) listed above. The Director requested a visit from the department because she requested to add one indoor classroom called the Learning Center and an outdoor play area called The Green Turf. LPA met with the Director, Criselda Thomas, and explained the purpose of the visit. Seventeen preschool-aged children and seven staff members were present during the visit. The seven staff members present at the CCC have all received criminal record clearance from the department. The CCC operates within its capacity and in accordance with the required ratio of staff to children.
LPA observed that the indoor classroom was clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair. It was equipped with age-appropriate toys, furniture, and educational materials. All electrical outlets were properly covered. LPA observed that no harmful substances were present in the indoor classroom. LPA will approve the use of the indoor classroom starting today, 4/23/2024.
LPA observed that the outdoor play area was surrounded by a fence at least four feet high and covered with green turf. It was free of hazards. The director stated that the outdoor play area would be used for free play. LPA noticed stairs in the outdoor play area. LPA will require the installation of a portable barricade gate to cover the stairs before approving the outdoor play area.
LPA reminded the Director that other age groups from the elementary and middle school must not co-mingle with the preschool children.
No deficiencies were issued today during LPA's visit.
A Notice of Site Visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director, Criselda Thomas.
