25 | On 8/18/2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Hanson Leong, made a scheduled case management visit to the child daycare facility listed above. The Department received an application from the Licensee requesting a capacity increase. All the individuals listed on the facility’s roster have been granted permission to work or be present in a childcare facility. The LPA observed five staff members supervising eleven infants. Children's capacity and ratio requirements were observed to be in compliance.
During today’s visit, the facility was checked for any health and safety concerns. Room C and Room D were specifically surveyed to ensure that both classroom's square footage was sufficient for the requested capacity increase. Previous measurements were performed on 7/8/2009. According to the Director, there has been no changes to the physical plant. The total accessible useable space for Room C and Room D measures up to 844 sq.ft. Room C and Room D can accommodate roughly 24 children due to the licensing requirement of 35 sq ft indoor activity space per child. There is a centralized fire alarm, a smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and a fully charged fire extinguisher in the classroom. Toys, furniture, and equipment are offered for children. There is a storage area for children's personal items. There are 2 sinks and 2 infant changing tables in the Room A and Room B. There are two infant changing tables, three toilets, and seven sinks between Room C and D. According to the Director, there have been no alterations to the outdoor area. With the addition of the two classrooms, C and D, the infant classrooms will be in Rooms A thru D.
A fire clearance inspection was conducted by the San Rafael Fire Department and approved on 8/16/2023.
The LPA will approve an increase of capacity to 40 children, effective on 8/18/2023.
A copy of today’s report and the “Notice of Site Visit” were given to Director, Annie Gaffney. Today's report was reviewed and discussed with Annie Gaffney. No deficiencies were cited today under the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 22
