The LPA observed a designated area for children to sleep or rest quietly. The area includes sleeping mats, and cribs for each child, which are stored appropriately. One designated changing station in the home is clean and safe for the children to use. The LPA reminded Ms. Soares that emergency exits must always be kept clear and that sleeping mats, and cribs cannot be placed in such a way that blocks emergency exits.
The LPA observed that all required documents were displayed in the home, such as the facility license, the Notification of Parental Rights, and the Earthquake Preparedness Checklist
The LPA conducted a review of the records of both the children and staff members. The LPA reviewed the two children's records and found that their files contain all necessary documents, including the Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance, Immunization Record, Identification/Emergency Information, Consent for Emergency Medical Treatment, and Notification of Parents’ Rights. The LPA reviewed the sleeping records for children under two and confirmed that the data had been correctly recorded. Following a review of the staff records, the LPA found Ms. Soares possesses a current certification in Pediatric First Aid/CPR and Mandated Reporter. Ms. Soares’ Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification expires on 6/2025.
The LPA reviewed the facility’s emergency drill log. According to the facility’s emergency drill log, the last fire drill was carried out on 10/10/2023.
Ms. Soares was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
