25 | On 6/13/2024, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Leong and Alvarado conducted an unannounced case management visit to the Child Care Center (CCC) listed above. The department received an application from the facility requesting a capacity increase. LPAs met with the Director, Patricia Hidalgo, and explained the purpose of the visit. Seventeen preschool-aged children and four staff members were present during the visit. The four staff members present at the CCC received criminal record clearance from the department. The CCC operates within its capacity and in accordance with the required ratio of staff to children.
The facility has safety features such as a centralized fire alarm, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and a fully charged fire extinguisher. Additionally, toys, furniture, and equipment are provided for the children, along with storage space for their personal items.
The inspection involved measuring Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, and the library. The Director confirmed that the physical layout has not been altered since. The combined usable area of the five rooms is 1,577 square feet, which provides space for 45 children in accordance with the licensing requirement of 35 square feet of indoor activity space per child.
The inspection also involved measuring the outdoor play area. The combined usable area of the outdoor play area is 1,730 square feet, which provides space for 23 children in accordance with the licensing requirement of 75 square feet of outdoor activity space per child.
LPAs found that the facility has 4 sinks and 3 toilets. Since one toilet and one sink can accommodate 15 children, the facility can only accommodate up to 45 children.
