25 | On February 23, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Garcia arrived at the combined facility and met with Head Teacher, Melanie Newman for an unannounced required inspection for the infant facility, in conjunction with the preschool facility inspection. VP of program, Kristina Sisseck later arrived and joined during the inspection. Purpose of the inspection was explained. There were total of 17 children in care, with 7 teachers in two classrooms. Facility operates day care program Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM through 5:30 PM.
LPA inspected day care rooms and the outdoor space. LPA observed facility has combined smoke/fire and carbon monoxide detector, a fully charged fire extinguisher model 3A40BC located in each classrooms. LPA did not test the functionality of the detectors due to children napping. The facility has a working telephone on site. All cleaning solutions, poisons, and other chemicals dangerous to the children are stored inaccessible to the children. Facility has age-appropriate furniture. Facility floor and rugs are in good repair and free of any hazards.
There are first aid supplies available in the classroom. The bathroom is in working condition, LPA checked sinks and toilets. Individual items provided by the parents are labeled and stored appropriately. Per Kristina, the facility provides foods depending on their needs and services plan, on site. Water is provided through filtered water pitchers from the sink, refilled as needed. All food is stored properly to avoid contamination. Food is stored adequately to prevent contamination and properly labeled in the refrigerators.
LPA observed outdoor areas and play structures are free from health and safety hazards. The outdoor area has play structures, and shaded areas for the children to rest. A covered sand box, garden, mud kitchen and all covered in turf, and wood chips. There are a variety of toys and carts to ride on available for the children. There are also sheds/bins and storage areas for the toys when they're not being used.
