25 | On 6/19/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Garcia made a scheduled case management visit to the child day care facility listed above. In conjunction with another case management visit from a self reported incident. This facility operates a preschool program.
The Department has received an application from the Licensee requesting a capacity increase for the preschool program adding room K4. In addition to the existing license room K3, to a total of 44 preschool children ages 2 to entry into first grade. During today’s visit, there were no children present in the facility. The program started operating at this room on 6/12/23 before the LPA was able to schedule a visit to the facility due to short notice from Novato School District but Fire Clearance was approved on 6/9/2023. The K4 room has a very similar layout of room K3 and this room will temporarily be utilized until the North Bay Children's Center Lu Sutton Site (Licence # 214005526) construction is finished. Per Kristina, their last day using the K4 room at this site is until August 11, 2023.
During today’s visit, the facility was checked for any health and safety concerns. Room K4 was specifically surveyed to ensure that the classroom's square footage was sufficient for the requested capacity increase. The total accessible useable space is 836.5 sq ft. Room K4 can accommodate 21 children per fire clearance with the licensing requirement of 35 sq ft indoor activity space per child. There is a centralized fire alarm, a smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and a fully charged fire extinguisher in the classroom. Toys, furniture, and equipment are offered for children. There is a storage area for children's personal items. The Preschool age program has a total of 4 toilets,and 4 sinks that can accommodate 60 children. There have been no alterations to the outdoor area.
A fire clearance inspection was conducted by the Marin County Fire Department and approved on 6/9/2023.
The LPA will approve an increase in capacity to children, effective on 6/19/2023.
