25 | On 3/22/2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Hanson Leong met with the director, Elizabeth Cohen, for a scheduled Case Management inspection to increase capacity to their current License. The current capacity of the facility is 12 preschool aged children. The director is requesting 26 preschool aged children (ages two to entry into first grade). Indoor health and safety hazards will be assessed during today's inspection, and the facility's capacity will be determined through measurements.
Indoor: There are two classrooms that will be used for the preschool program. Preschool classroom #1 (Colibri) was calculated for 538.35 sq ft. allowing for a capacity of 15 children. Preschool classroom #2 (Chocolate) was calculated for 358.8 sq ft. allowing for a capacity of 10 children. Total allowable capacity was calculated for 906.35 sq ft. allowing for a capacity of 26 children.
Outdoor: The outdoor square footage where children will be present during outdoor time is 1,433.25 sq. ft, allowing for a capacity of 19 children. Director was reminded that preschool children cannot co-mingle with the infant program. Due to the increased capacity to 26 preschool children, the director will be required to submit an outdoor waiver for the preschool program. The outdoor area was observed to be clean, safe, and equipped with toys that are age-appropriate for children. There are trees in the playground that will be used for natural shade for children.
The facility received their fire clearance from the fire department on 12/14/2022
LPA Leong will recommend that this facility be licensed for up to 26 preschool children, effective on 3/22/2023
A copy of this report, and the “Notice of Site Visit” were given to the director. A “Notice of Site Visit” must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. An exit interview was conducted, and the report was reviewed with the Director, Elizabeth Cohen
