32 | Toys and equipment appear to be age appropriate. There are a total of 2 toilets and 2 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate the requested capacity of 18 school age children. There is a water dispenser next to the bathrooms and a water fountain but Karen stated that each child will have their own water bottle which will be kept in their designated area so they can have water readily available to them at all times. Children will take their water bottle out in the play area.
The approximate outside square footage for the play area is 3,071 which will accommodate the 18 school age children. The play area will be shared with the preschool children at separate times (No commingling allowed). Karen stated that children will exit through the rear of the center to access the outdoor play area. The Play area is fenced all around. LPA observed three emergency exits in the outdoor play area. One is locked by a latch and the other two are push bar. LPA informed Director that an alarm or latches are needed for the two push bar gates. LPA observed the play area to have bikes, an age appropriate climbing dome, shade, & cabinets for storage. Applicant is using pea gravel to cushion the fall zones for the play structure. LPA observed a water dispenser from a water vendor service in the outdoor play area. Children will use own water bottles to fill up the water. LPA informed Site Supervisor that the indoor water fountain and any water outlets used to prepare food will need to be tested for lead per PIN 21-21.1-CCP.
A fire clearance for 18 school age children was received and granted by the Los Banos Fire Department on 5/23/2022.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Karen was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
