32 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) toured the facility. Inside off limits areas include 2 bedrooms, and area in kitchen behind gate.LPA observed children napping on mats. The home was clean, well-ventilated, and furnished with age-appropriate, safe toys, equipment, and materials. A fully charged 2A-10B-C fire extinguisher was observed, with no service or purchase tags present. The licensee was unable to recall when the extinguisher was purchased or last serviced.. Smoke and carbon monoxide detector was tested and found to be operational. A working telephone was also present.
All hazardous items, including cleaning compounds, detergents, poisons, and medications, were stored inaccessible to children. The home was free from observable defects or conditions that could pose a danger to children in care. The Licensee confirmed there were no firearms on the premises and that smoking is prohibited.
The outdoor areas were inspected. Off limit areas include all areas behind gates and closed-door sections, room and storage area. Outside are is enclosed with fencing at least four feet high. Licensee was reminded to notify Licensing prior to making any changes to the home or yard.
Licensee does not have a current Mandated Reporter Certification; therefore, a Type B citation was issued and noted on the attached LIC809D. LPA reminded the licensee that both CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter certifications must be renewed every two years to maintain compliance.
Three children’s files were reviewed and contained all required forms, including the Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance for Family Child Care Home (LIC282). The Licensee was reminded that if transportation is provided in the future, a valid driver’s license is required, children may not be left unattended in vehicles, and appropriate car seats or booster seats must be used.
Safe Sleep Information was discussed, and licensee was reminded that an Individual Infant Sleeping Plan (LIC 9227) is a required for each infant up to 12 months old, with nap checks documented until age two. Cribs and play yards must be free of loose items, bumper pads, and hanging objects and mattresses must be firm, properly fitted, and have fitted sheets. Licensee understands that no baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers are allowed.
