32 | LPA toured the inside of the facility, off limits areas are attached garage, playroom, living room and all bedrooms. The licensee was providing care in a safe and comfortable environment, ensuring that children were treated appropriately. The home was clean, well ventilated, and has safe toys, play equipment and materials. A working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and an operating telephone were available. All hazardous items, such as poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, and medicines were kept out of children’s reach. The home was free of any defects or dangers that could harm a child. Licensee confirmed that there are no firearms, guns on the property, and smoking is not allowed. The fireplace is in the off limit area is screened, licensee confirmed the fire place is not used during child care hours.
The licensee did not have a recently serviced fire extinguisher. The requirement for this regulation was discussed with licensee. A Type B citation has been issued on the attached LIC809D.
The outdoor area, has no off limit areas.. The outdoor play area is fenced and has age-appropriate toys for the children. The licensee was reminded to notify licensing before making any changes to the house or yard.
Licensee did not have a current Mandated Reporter Training certificate. The licensee has enrolled in the course but has not yet completed. A Technical Violation was issued. LPA reminded the licensee of the two-year renewal requirement for CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter training.
Five children’s files were reviewed. All were complete with the exception of one infant's file, which was missing documentation of the 15-minute check. A type B citation has been issued on the attached LIC 809D. Licensee does not have liability insurance coverage for childcare; however each child’s file does contain Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance for Family Child Care Home.
The licensee does not transport children. Licensee was reminded that should license elect to transport children that licensed must have current license, that children cannot be left unattended in vehicles and that car seats and booster seats must be available for safe transportation.
Safe Sleep Information was discussed, and licensee was reminded that an Individual Infant Sleeping Plan (LIC 9227) is a required for each infant up to 12 months old, with nap checks documented until age two. Cribs and play yards must be free of loose items, bumper pads, and hanging objects and mattresses must be firm, properly fitted, and have fitted sheets. Licensee understands that no baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers are allowed.
