25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Fermin Campos-Jaramillo met with licensee, Maria Lourdes Lopez, for an annual inspection and explained the reason for the visit to her. Present during today's visit was licensee and three adult helpers with 11 children: four infants and seven preschool age. Adults living in the home are licensee, her spouse Melquiades, and her adult daughters Kimberly and Gisselle. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
LPA inspected inside and outside of the home. LPA observed a blocked fireplace, no wall heater, no stairs, and no bodies of water. Licensee stated there are no weapons. Licensee stated they have 3 dogs and they are vaccinated. LPA observed a 3A40BC fire extinguisher that was serviced on 1/12/24. Dual Carbon Monoxide and smoke detector was operable. Sharp objects, medicines, poisons and cleaning supplies are inaccessible to the children and stored in the garage. Back and side yards are fenced. Off limit areas: three bedrooms, one bathroom, garage, back yard, and left side yard. Playground for the children in care is fenced and located to the right side yard. Licensee stated they do not transport children, LPA reminded Licensee that children are never to be left in parked vehicles and must use appropriate car seats according to the child's age/weight/size. LPA took a picture of a current roster of the children. LPA observed a fire and disaster drill log that was last conducted on 3/22/24. LPA reviewed 5 children’s files and observed all required documentation was in compliance. LPA observed that the Licensee and her helpers have renewed the Mandated Reporter training on 3/15/23 and helpers Victoria on 3/20/23, Kimberly on 3/16/23, and Gisselle on 3/21/23. Licensee and helpers have Pediatric CPR/First Aid expiring on 2/18/25. The needed documentation for SB 792 which requires immunization against Pertussis, Measles, and Influenza as well as TB testing is in file for licensee and helpers.
A review of staff records on 3/26/24 indicates that all Facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all the adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home.
