25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Martha Jimenez-Villanueva met with licensee Miriam Sanchez for an unannounced Inspection on July 16, 2024. LPA explained the nature of today’s inspection to her. Present during today’s visit was the licensee and her husband with eighth children: one infant and three preschoolers and four schoolers. Days and hours of operation are Monday to Saturday from 5:00am to 6:00pm. Adults living in the home are the licensee, her husband, her mother-in-law, her father-in-law and her sister-in-law. Licensee states two children ages of fifteen- and eighth-years old living in home.
A review of staff records on 06/24/2024 indicates that all Facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPAs toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home during today’s inspection. LPA observed a covered fireplace, no wall heater and no bodies of water. Licensee stated there are no weapons. LPA observed three dogs in a fenced right-side yard, licensee states the dogs stay outside and they are vaccinated. LPA observed safe and sufficient materials, toys, and play equipment for the day care children. All sharp objects, detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, poisons, and other similar items inside the home are stored inaccessible to children stored in the top kitchen cabinet and in the garage. Backyard is fenced. Off limit areas: two bedrooms, one bathroom, garage, back of backyard that is fenced off. LPA observed a Carbon monoxide and smoke detector were operable. LPA observed a fully charged 2AB10BC fire extinguisher that it was last served on 09/20/2023. LPA observed in the garage converted that licensee states converted with no city permit.
