25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Sarah Hurt conducted an unannounced visit to the facility to conduct a Case Management/Incident visit. LPA met with facility Executive Director Sara Post and explained the purpose of this visit.
On December 25, 2025, the Executive Director was notified by the daughter of the Resident 1 regarding a fraudulent charge Resident 1's bank account. Resident 1's daughter, expressed concern that her father’s checkbook had been left out on the dining room table in his apartment, potentially leading to unauthorized access. On December 26, 2025, Resident 1's daughter informed the Executive Director that Chase Bank had provided her with copies of the checks in question and identified the individual to whom the checks were made out. Facility Staff 1 was the individual listed on the checks. Facility Executive Director conducted an internal investigation and placed Staff 1 on suspension pending further inquiry. Staff 1 had written two checks, each in the amount of $2,000.
The Executive Director reported the incident to local law enforcement, and Salinas Police Department Officer arrived on scene, referencing case number 25-120827. Following the suspension on 12/16/2025, Staff 1 was arrested with charges of embezzlement, forgery, and elder theft by caretaker.

The Executive Director conducted an in-service training session for staff covering the following topics: Resident Rights, Theft and Loss Policy, Mandated Reporter Policy, and Safeguarding Resident Personal Property. Resident 1's bank restored the amount of the stolen checks, and Resident 1 will no longer retain checks in their apartment , as the daughter will handle payment to the beautician. Resident 1 will be reminded about safeguarding items in their apartments at the upcoming resident council, and a resident letter regarding safeguarding resident personal property will be sent.
