32 | During today’s visit, the facility was operating within the ratio and capacity requirements. The front gate was latched with a sign reminding parents, staff and visitors to close and latch the gate upon arriving and leaving the facility. The classroom had a baby gate located by the main door next to the cubbies. S1 stated the children are younger and have not shown any interest in trying to go out the gate. Furthermore, S1 stated the latch for the baby gate is on the other side of the gate, and you have to reach over the gate to unlatch it. S1 also stated this is something that she will continue to check in with teachers as the children get older and interested in trying to open the gate. If further precaution is needed she will order door alarms.
S1 stated that she frequently steps into the classroom(s) to provide support and coverage when needed. She will do a walk through first thing in the morning, and then continue on throughout the day as needed. S1 also stated that the classroom has a white board both inside and outside with the children’s names. Teachers use this board to mark the children who are present or have left for the day. Teachers do headcounts when going out to the play yard, when entering the classroom and again at circle time.
S1 stated the site has monthly staff meetings to discuss topics related to supervision, staffing ratio, and the importance of head counts. In addition, S1 stated on 10/11/2024 they had a meeting with the representative of the Technical Support Program (TSP), which was beneficial for all staff. The facility has completed all training's with CCLD’s Technical Support Program (TSP). Based on today's visit, the facility appeared to be complying with the terms of the NCC.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. There were no violation(s) of the California Code of Regulations, Title 22; Division 12, cited during today's visit.
