32 | During today’s visit, the facility was operating within the ratio and capacity requirements. The front gate was latched with a sign reminding parents, staff and visitors to close and latch the gate upon arriving and leaving the facility. All doors in the classrooms had alarms on them and were in working order. There is an alarm on the main classroom door at the front of the classroom and the back door that leads out to the play yard. The classroom had a baby gate located by the main door next to the cubbies. S1 stated that the teachers have been talking with the children regarding the gate and the importance of not opening the doors to exit the classroom unless they are with a teacher or parent.
S1 stated that she frequently steps into the classroom(s) to provide support and coverage when needed. She will do a walk through first thing in the morning, and then continue on throughout the day as needed. S1 also stated that the classroom has a white board both inside and outside with the children’s names. Teachers use this board to mark the children who are present or have left for the day. Teachers do headcounts when going out to the play yard, when entering the classroom and throughout the day, at circle time and when the children are sitting at the table eating. S1 stated the staff work well with one another and there has been great improvement.
S1 stated the site has monthly staff meetings to discuss topics related to supervision, staffing ratios, and the importance of head counts. In addition, S1 stated on 10/11/2024 they had a meeting with the representative of the Technical Support Program (TSP), which was beneficial for all staff. The facility has completed all trainings with CCLD’s Technical Support Program (TSP). Based on today's visit, the facility appeared to be complying with the terms of the NCC.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. There were no violation(s) of the California Code of Regulations, Title 22; Division 12, cited during today's visit.
