25 | An unannounced annual/random inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Cindy Castro. LPA met with Maria Valencia , Licensee (L1). There are currently five adults living in the home. L1 was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Childcare Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
During the inspection the home was toured inside and outside. The licensee (L1) was supervising four children. The facility’s operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM-04:30 PM. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The children will have access to the living room/playroom, dining room, hallway bathroom, nap room and backyard. The "off limits" areas of the home are the kitchen, three bedrooms, laundry room and the attached ADU. These areas will be made inaccessible by doorknob covers, key locking mechanisms and child safety gates. LPA reminded Licensee that when the children utilize the bathroom because they must walk through an off-limits area there should be supervision at all times. The home is clean and orderly at this time and will remain so during childcare hours. The children use the backyard as the outdoor play area, which is fully fenced. There were no pools or other bodies of water observed on the premises. There were safe toys and equipment available for children. There is a working telephone in the home. Items which could pose a danger to children (such as detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, etc.) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children. Licensee stated that there are no poisons in the home. LPA observed a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher, rated at least 2A10BC, in the home.(Continue to LIC 809-C)
