25 | At approximately 9:40am on 8/1/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with facility representative Joy Horsfall for a licensee initiated case management visit. The purpose of today's visit is to inspect a proposed room change for the preschool. Today's census included 0 children in care.
On 5/16/2024, LPA conducted an initial visit to inspect the "Birch" classroom, where licensee intends to move from their current "Aspen" classroom. During that visit, LPA observed a floor-level furnace with a metal grill situated against the wall which required a barricade to prevent access by children. During today's inspection, LPA observed that the corrections had been made and that the furnace is properly barricaded with a wire screen box.
In addition, a health and safety inspection was conducted in all activity and classroom spaces and restrooms in the new facility areas. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment and toys in the new room, as well as appropriate tables, chairs, and cubbies. The first aid kit will be kept in a cupboard above the classroom sink. All toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children, and facility representative stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. Water for the children will be provided by the classroom sink. The attached bathroom has one toilet and one sink, which shall be maintained in safe and sanitary operating condition. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector, and fire clearance was received on 5/15/2024. All necessary postings were observed. The outdoor play space will remain unchanged.
Effective today, 8/1/2024, the room change has been approved. Facility representative understands that they can no longer provide care for children in the Aspen classroom. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility representative, Joy Horsfall. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. |
