25 | At 11:55am on 5/22/2026, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with facility representative Vanessa Alcaraz for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed a census of 11 preschool children supervised by 5 staff. Facility operates 8:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday, and follows the local school calendar.
LPA toured the building including all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, and outdoor play areas. All necessary postings were observed. Facility representative stated there were no poisons on the premises, and LPA did not observe any bodies of water. All toxic and hazardous items were inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment were in good condition and floors were clean throughout the facility. Playground equipment and surfaces were free of loose or sharp parts, and the areas underneath or around climbing equipment were sufficiently cushioned with wood chips. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Program provides lunch and AM&PM snacks, and menus were posted in visible sight. Toileting facilities were in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. LPA observed first aid supplies, a carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector, and fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher within the facility. The sign in/out sheet recorded full legal signatures.
LPA reviewed six children's records and observed them to be complete. Review of staff records on file confirmed that at least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification and all employees have valid mandated reporter training. Criminal record clearances were also verified, and facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Report continues on LIC809-C
