25 | At 1:05pm on 5/13/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with Licensee Dawn Feightner for the purpose of an unannounced required 1-year inspection. Licensee states no others are present in the home today except for their assistant, who was present for the inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed a total census of 10 preschool children.
Facility hours of operation are 7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Thursday, year-round.
Licensee guided LPA on a tour of the facility, and a health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include the Master Bed/Bathroom, Laundry Room, Deck, and Garage. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. LPA observed the required postings, a working phone, 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. LPA asked to see firearm weapons and observed them to be appropriately locked in a safe. Licensee does not have ammunition for the weapons at this time. LPA did not observe bodies of water on the property. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Fireplace is barricaded to prevent access to children. There are no stairs in the home. Outdoor play space is fenced.
LPA verified criminal record clearances for all adults present. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA reviewed 10 children’s files and observed them to be complete. A current roster is being maintained and fire and disaster drills are documented. Current CPR and First Aid certification was verified and expires 2/2026, and AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training was verified for the Licensee and expires 1/2026. Report continues on 809-C
