25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with Licensee Kathleen Granholm for the purpose of an unannounced required 1-year inspection. At 12:45pm, LPA observed a total census of 3 children, consisting of 2 preschool children and 1 infant.
Licensee guided LPA on a tour of the facility, and a health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include backyard and fenced pasture. Licensee acknowledged that children must never enter these areas. All toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. LPA observed the required postings, a working phone, 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. LPA observed firearm weapons locked separately from ammunition. There are no bodies of water on the property. Stairways and wood burning fireplaces are barricaded to prevent access to children. Outdoor play space is fenced, and licensee understands 100% supervision is required in unfenced outdoor areas.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA reviewed 3 children’s files and observed them to be complete. A current roster is being maintained and fire and disaster drills are documented. Current CPR and First Aid certification was verified and expires 12/2024, and AB1207 Mandated Reporter Training was verified for the Licensee and expires 11/2024.
