32 | During the investigation, LPA Valdez Santana interviewed 3 staff members, 4 children, and 2 parents. LPA took photos of the two classrooms and playground. LPA also obtained a copy of the Children’s Roster and Personnel Report.
Regarding the allegation “Staff did not ensure that the facility was clean and free of clutter,” three (3) out of three (3) staff denied that facility is cluttered and unclean. Staff #1 (S1) stated, the classrooms are clean and orderly. The facility has a custodian, who does a good job keeping the facility clean. S1 denied ever seeing any animal droppings at the facility. Staff ensure the facility is clean by cleaning the tables every morning after any meals. S1 sweeps the floor. The custodian cleans the bathrooms, hallways and floors. S1 also cleans/wipes down any high traffic areas like knobs, etc. Staff 2 (S2) denied that the facility is unclean or cluttered, staff have brushes to clean, staff sweep the floors and have cleaning wipes. Staff have children wash their hands throughout the day. Staff #3 (S3) denied ever seeing any droppings at the facility. S3 stated each week the school has different families that come to clean, it’s required to volunteer but it’s before and after programs. The Janitor also cleans and sweeps and mops. The teachers also clean throughout the day. Four (4) out of four (4) children interviewed did not make any disclosures. Two (2) out of two (2) interviewed parents stated they had no concerns about the facility and did not disclose any information related to the allegation. Additionally, LPA thoroughly inspected the classrooms and the facility as a whole and LPA did not find the facility to be unclean and cluttered.
Regarding the allegation, “Staff did not provide adequate supervision to daycare children,” Three (3) out of three (3) staff denied children have ever been left unattended. S1 stated, the way staff ensure adequate supervision to children is by maintaining safety and order in the classroom. To ensure every child is heard and seen. S2 stated S2 tries to keep the children in line of sight at all times. S2 tries not to give S2’s back to the children and always watches them. S3 stated it’s a 1:12 ratio and staff need to supervise the children during snack and lunch, in the classroom and when outside and in the restrooms. Three (3) out of three (3) staff denied seeing another staff walk away leaving children unattended. Four (4) out of four (4) children denied ever being left alone by staff. Two (2) out of two (2) interviewed parents stated they had no concerns about the facility and did not disclose any information related to the allegation.
Regarding the allegation, “Staff yelled at daycare children.” Three (3) out of three (3) staff denied ever yelling at children or observed another staff yelling at children. S1 disclosed that S1 has projected S1’s voice but never in a rough tone, those are S1's babies S1 would never.
