32 | Classroom Walk-Through: The LPA and director visited 3 of 3 classrooms. During the inspection of the indoor activity space, items that could pose a danger to children such as detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications were observed to be stored out of the reach of children in classrooms. The LPA did not observe poisons, and hazardous items such as detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications. The classrooms had age-appropriate toys for the ages served. Floors, equipment, and furniture were clean and were observed to be in good repair and free of sharp edges.
Restrooms: The children's restrooms are clean and sanitary. The bathrooms had flushing water. Toilets used by school-age children provide individual privacy. Supervision by staff was observed and only one child is allowed in the restroom to allow adequate supervision. The director was reminded that all toilets, and hand washing, areas shall be maintained in safe and sanitary operating conditions. The director stated that the children are supervised and a staff member monitors the restrooms/children go to the restroom on their own.
Food Service: The Center programs providing before- and/or after-school care makes available and offers nutritious snacks to children. Snack is prepared in Y3 and children eat outside next to Y3. Children bring their lunches during summer camp.
Outdoor Activity Space: The outdoor activity space provides a shaded rest area for the children. The surface of the outdoor activity space was maintained in a safe condition for the activities planned and was free of hazards including, but not limited to, holes, broken glass, and other debris.
Large Climbing Equipment: The areas around and under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and other similar equipment were cushioned with material that absorbs falls by means of rubber like flooring.
The playground is fenced and enclosed to protect children and to keep them in the outdoor activity area. The fence was at least four feet high.
There are no bodies of water present at the facility. The outdoor activity area was clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair during the inspection. The LA discussed with the director that equipment shall be maintained in a safe condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts.
The director was reminded that the childcare center shall be clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of children, employees, and visitors.
