Today, LPA interviewed the staff who were supervising the 22 months old Child # 1 (C1) on 7-22-2026, based on review of the Internal Kindercare Child Supervision Record (CSR). A total of four staff members were interviewed. LPA reviewed the activity log for infant/toddler program dated 7/22/2026.
The bathroom log shows C1's diaper was diaper or checked three times during the 8 hours C1 was in care, including a two-hour nap period. Staff confirmed they changed/checked C1's diaper and observed some redness on C1's bottom first thing in the morning and again during the last diaper change at approximately 2:00 pm. C1 was picked up at 3:30 pm. Staff and records both indicate that diaper cream was applied during diaper changes.
Staff stated C1 had a good day on 7/22/2026 until after nap time, when C1 began to show signs of fever. Staff contacted C1's representative for pick up. Staff reported stated C1 was isolated in the office after they observed the fever. One staff member reported C1 was laying on their lap in the office until pick-up. Regarding outdoor time, staff stated C1 did not sit anywhere while they were outside and that the group was playing in a shaded area.
LPA reviewed the outdoor activity logs for C1 dated 7/22/2026. Records show C1 was outside with a group of 3 toddlers and one staff member for approximately 33 minutes in the morning around 9:37 am. C1 was not taken outside again that day. LPA reviewed the weather conditions in Laguna Niguel on 7/22/206. The recorded temperature was approximately 80 F with mostly sunny and mild, with moderate coastal humidity and light westerly winds.
Based on LPA's interviews with staff who were supervising C1, reviewing CSR, activity logs, bathroom logs, nap logs, and photos dated 7/22/2026, this agency has investigated the complaint alleging "Facility staff left infant exposed to the sun for an extended period of time", although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the assistant director, Carissa Sabias.
End of report.
