32 | Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, sharp objects and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children are inaccessible in areas designated for children. The licensee states (that there are no poisons on the premises). Licensee was advised that any poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock.
Based on the Facility Sketch submitted, areas off limits to children and parents are: Complete second and the third level of the home, garage and theater room on the first level of the home are designated as Off limits . All the rooms inaccessible to children have a locked stopper latch attached and the kitchen cabinets have a magnetic locks as well as lock stoppers installed. There is child safety gate on the second level of the home, making the upper levels of the home inaccessible. There is a Fireplace in the open patio area but it has an appropriate barrier and it has a controlled switch
Parents and children shall access the home through the main entrance on the second level of home, they use the carpeted stairway to access the day care area on the first level. There is an emergency access stairway outside the day care area with an installed child safety gate designated as an Emergency Exit route. . Licensee understands that licensing staff may have access to off-limit areas during inspection visit if necessary.
LPA also observed COVID19, precautions at the facility, with required postings, temperature checks upon arrival, social distancing and activities being held in small groups.
Areas Designated for Day care activities: Licensee have designated the first level (basement) of the home which included the living area/ dining area, kitchen, one bedroom and one bathroom with outdoor patio assigned for Day care activities.
The Living area was observed to have age appropriate activities (Arts / Crafts) and educational items , the room has tables and chairs for additional activities. Living area is large and spacious. During nap time cots are arranged for children and younger infants sleep in the bedroom which has cribs and an assistant is present in that room while the infant is taking a nap. There is also a packable play pen, for the infant. Licensee has three assistants including herself so all the children are supervised at all times.
The bathroom designated for day care use was observed to be safe and free of hazardous items. Bathroom has a small step stool so children can reach the sink tap. There is also a changing station for the infants, all the required infants needs are provided by the Licensee. (Page-2)
