25 | An informal office meeting was conducted on this date, 2/26/2024 in the Orange County Regional Office. In attendance was Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Thuy Ho and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Patricia Duron along with CEO, Scott Braswell and Director Sheila Dalva-Hornback.
The purpose of the informal meeting was to discuss the following citations that were issued on:
8/22/2023 – 101229(a)(1) Responsibility for Providing Care and Supervision: On 4/14/2023 a child received a scratch on the hand after waking up from nap and the 2 staff members who was supervising C1 did not know how the child received the scratch.
8/22/2023 - 101223(a)(3) Personal Rights: S1 admitted knocking over a child’s magnet tiles tower because the child knocked over another child's tower.
Since issuance of the citations in August 2023, the Director has provided all documents and information required pursuant to the plan of corrections. As a result the licensing office has cleared both citations.
Since April 2023, we have continuously provided on-going coaching for S1 weekly with HR consultant to provide strategies and techniques when interacting with challenging behaviors. Director stated facility provides monthly in-services trainings with topics regarding licensing, child development, Reggio inspired curriculum. We conduct week long professional development training twice a year for staff, which includes topics regarding personal rights and supervision.
Child Development Specialist is available for staff and families. The specialist provides techniques and strategies for staff and trains new staff. The specialist is available to provide resources for parents and how to best support children. We provide classroom management strategies to support staff.
