On 11/17/23, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Anna Chan and Karen Navar conducted an unannounced onsite inspection for the purpose of an Annual Random Visit. LPAs met with Director Mami Ketterer. LPAs and director toured the facility inside and outside and the floor and yard plan were verified. Census was taken in individual classrooms. The overall census observed was 8 infants and 3 staff in Room #1. Older Infants average 12 mos to 18 mos transition to Room #2 at 9am.

During the inspection it was determined the facility is operating within its licensed capacity and within compliance of staffing ratios. Facility hours are 7:00a.m.- 6:00p.m., Monday through Friday. A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.

During the inspection of the indoor activity space, items which could pose a danger to children (detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children. Age-appropriate materials such as books, tummy time mats, blocks are provided. LPAs observed that Room #2 did not have a sink next to the changing table. Based on interview with the director, the staff washes their hands in the restroom connected to the infant room which is about 2 ft away from the changing table. Food and formulas are brought from home. AM/PM snacks are provided for infants 12 mos and up. Food prep areas were clean and sanitary. Food is properly stored. Floors, equipment, and furniture were clean and were observed to be in good repair and free of sharp edges. Water is provided by filtered water dispenser, sippy cups are also brought by children from home with the child’s name on it.

Smaller infants aged 12 months and below nap on cribs and bigger infants aged 12 months to 2 years nap on cot/mats. The facility washes beddings and blankets daily. The facility conducted an emergency drill on August 23, 2023.
