32 | During the investigation, LPA interviewed 6 staff members and the director, 11 children and 4 parents. Reviewed Documents obtained: Behavior and Incident Reports and Family Handbook,
Reporting Party (RP) stated Staff did not provide adequate supervision for children in care.
LPA interviewed staff. 6 staff stated they actively supervise children and have not witnessed a staff not properly supervising children. Staff 1 (S1) stated they position themselves in the classroom where their backs are not turned to the children. S1 also stated they roam around the playground. S1 stated they separate children when children are having challenging behavior. Staff 2 (S2) stated they walk around the playground to see everything as much as they can and know where children are. S2 stated they intervene when children are having rough behavior or fighting each other. Staff 3 (S3) stated they stay in the middle of the room to face the class. And when S3 is in the playground, S3 stated they position themselves to places that need to be covered. S3 also stated they walk with the children who are having a behavior to calm them down. Staff 4 (S4) stated they stay in the library for library time and teachers are in multiple areas. Staff 5 (S5) stated they walk around the playground when supervising. Staff 7 (S7) stated they do not lead a classroom and only serves as a resource to teachers and observes children in the classroom.
LPA interviewed 4 parents, none of the parents interviewed disclosed information that supports the allegation.
LPA interviewed 11 children, none of the children interviewed disclosed information that supports the allegation.
LPA interviewed child 1 (C1), C1 stated the teacher watches them during outdoor play.
Based on interviews conducted and records reviewed, the preponderance of evidence standard has not been met. Although the allegation Staff did not provide adequate supervision for children in care may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED.
Exit interview was conducted with Director Julie Spielman. Report was reviewed and discussed. The Notice of Site Visit was posted and must remain posted for 30 consecutive days. Appeal Rights were provided.
