On 5/20/2024, LPA made an unannounced visit to the facility. During the visit, Director provided LPA with Weekly Menu, Family Handbook, and Children's Roster.
On 6/4/24, LPA conducted a follow-up visit and interviewed 7 staff and 10 children.
None of the staff who were interviewed disclosed a shortage of food at the facility. They stated that food is served to children with measuring spoons to ensure that all children receive the same amount of food on their plates. The staff stated that they serve all the food that is available, then the children eat what they choose from their plates. The staff also stated that they do not force children to eat, and leftovers are thrown in the trash. If the class needs additional servings, the staff call the kitchen or administrative staff for more food.
All 10 children interviewed stated that their teachers serve them all the food on their plates, then they choose what they want to eat. They stated that if they want additional servings, then they ask their teachers. They added that there is always more food.
At the time of visit, children were being served lunch, and LPA observed each classroom being served with the same amount of food prepared by the director. The meal included food items from all food components as stated in Title 22.
The Orange County Regional Child Care Licensing Office has investigated the complaint alleging facility staff did not ensure the children had food in the quantity necessary to meet their needs: although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there was not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED.
No deficiencies cited.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director, Kari Kimbrough. |
