Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mahnaz (Nancy) Malek conducted a case management inspection of the facility for the purpose of increasing the capacity of preschool and Toddler Option component by adding Room # 3 to their existing capacity. LPA met with director, Susan Foster who gave LPA a tour of the facility. Currently the facility is licensed for 37 children (25 preschool children in Room # 2 and 12 toddlers from Toddler Option Component in Room # 1). The facility is adding Room # 3 to the preschool capacity. LPA observed there were a total of 2 staff with 11 preschool children in Room # 2, and 2 staff with 9 toddlers from Toddler Option Component in Room # 1.
The facility representative, Susan Foster was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
The facility has requested to provide care and supervision to 48 preschool children ages 2 to 6 years old in rooms 2 and 3, and 24 toddlers from Toddler Option Component in Room # 1, Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Children are dropped off, signed in and out manually at the gate leading to playground and classrooms. The facility has met all the posting requirements.
The director was informed the group of toddlers from Toddler Option Component is maximum 12 toddlers with 2 teachers. The director shall arrange the room so two groups can be accommodated with no more than 12 toddlers in each group.
